Green cabbage is a low-carb chef’s best friend. It’s a highly versatile vegetable and a great low-carb alternative to potatoes, pasta and rice. Green cabbage fried in butter tastes fantastic – try it

Ingredients

4 servings
1½ (700 g) shredded green cabbage
4 oz. (100 g) butter or herb butter
Salt and pepper

Instructions:

Melt butter in a frying pan.
Sauté the shredded cabbage on medium heat for at least 15 minutes or until the cabbage reaches desired color and consistency.
Lower the heat a little towards the end. Stir regularly. Salt and pepper to taste.
Tip 1!

Vary your butter-fried cabbage by adding one or two teaspoons curry, cumin, herbs or a pinch of saffron. Chili – both dried and fresh – is also great, depending on what you have at home and fancy. Also great to fry in spice or herb butter.

Tip 2!

If you love green cabbage – raw or fried – it’s a smart idea to shred an entire head, or half of it, at once. Shred in a food processor, store in a plastic bag or a container with lid in the refrigerator. It will keep for many days. You can also use red cabbage or pointed cabbage.
